Circle of Giving

Our Circle of Giving (COG) annual direct giving campaign is our biggest and single most important fundraising program. Each year, we seek 100% participation from Marquez families. From $10 to $10,000, our families and community sponsors contribute through COG approximately 70% of the total amount that FOM fundraises each year. Starting with a 6-week Fall Fundraising Challenge, our COG campaign launches when school begins in August and continues through the entire school year. Our COG co-chairs and team have the most important job in FOM, as they manage the year-long fundraising campaign, track and recognize donors. Contact: Gaelyn Sharp.

Annual Auction

The Auction is Marquez’s “not-to-miss” fundraising gala of the year, and it is our second biggest fundraiser. It is a most anticipated dinner party featuring a live, silent and on-line auction. A large team of parent volunteers work together to organize the entire event, from all aspects of event planning to soliciting auction item donations. Contact: Sarah Goldsmith and Katie Michael.

Year of Parties!

YOP! is FUNdraising and community building at its best. Families purchase tickets for parents or students to attend a variety of parent donor hosted parties. All ticket proceeds go to FOM. Volunteers are needed to manage sign-ups, seek donors to host events and encourage other families to attend parties. Contact yearofparties@friendsofmarquez.com.

Birthday Marquee

The Marquez Marquee is a way for the school to communicate upcoming events.  Every week the Marquee will list the events and birthday's for the upcoming week.  The cost to have your student's name up on the Marquee the week of their birthday is $25.  This money goes to FOM to help pay for enrichment programs.

Book Fair

For a week in November and just in time for the holidays, the annual Scholastic Book Fair transforms the auditorium into a book store and gift shop with best sellers and other materials. Net proceeds from the sales go to FOM to fund enrichment programs. Volunteers help staff the weeklong event 8am – 3pm, and also help set up the week before. This team researches and puts together applications for available outside funding opportunities from corporations, foundations and community organizations. This team can always use more help researching new opportunities and coming up with winning grant proposals. Contact: Danielle Fern Halpin.

Read-A-Thon

Reading is fun! Each year, children read as much as they can during this time, gathering pledges from friends and family. Parent volunteers coordinate the entire event, and keep up with this Marquez tradition year after year. Contact: Manuela Mazzocco.
